St Mark’s Summit Hike is one of my all-time favorite hikes. It’s strenuous, takes a good length of time to get there, and you are rewarded with the most beautiful views of the Howe Sound. It is a part of the Howe Sound Crest Trail that runs over 30km from Cypress Mountain along the Sea to Sky Highway toward Porteau Cove.

St Mark’s Summit Hike

Make sure to bring some water and food with you, and all your hiking essentials. You start at the top of Cypress Mountain parking lot, head north towards the chairlift and look for the Howe Sound Crest Trail signs. The trail runs alongside a bunch of ski runs, and you keep following the signs for the Howe Sound Crest Trail. Follow this trail as it heads uphill, and then opens up to a wider path. You basically keep hiking upward for the first while, hit a bunch of switchbacks, and then the trail flattens out for a while.
