It offered a glimpse of the natural beauty that we would enjoy throughout our stay.

Offering expansive views of the Pacific Ocean, the suite combined modern amenities with rustic charm, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Every aspect of the suite was designed with comfort and relaxation in mind:

• Spacious Living Area: Equipped with a gas fireplace and comfortable seating, the living area was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
• Fully Equipped Kitchen: The kitchen featured stainless steel appliances and all necessary cookware, making in-suite cooking and dining such an enjoyable option.
• Private Patio: The outdoor space provided an ideal setting to enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks while taking in the stunning ocean views.
• Luxurious Bedroom: The king-sized bed, fitted with premium linens, ensured restful nights, while the thoughtful layout of the suite offered both privacy and space. The pillows were so lush and comfortable that I’m planning on sourcing them for our home.

Additionally, the eco-friendly toiletries by Sea Wench Naturals were a highlight. Crafted locally from locally sourced ingredients, they added sustainability and locality to our stay. We loved the bath products so much that we purchased the body wash and hand soap for our home.

For those seeking a more formal culinary experience, The Pointe Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn is an excellent choice, offering 240-degree ocean views paired with a carefully curated menu of locally inspired dishes.

Exploring the Vancouver Aquarium

On our first full day, we headed to the Vancouver Aquarium, a must-visit for families. Our kids were absolutely mesmerized by the underwater displays, and it was a great indoor activity to break up the day.

What sets the aquarium apart is its focus on marine conservation, which was an added educational aspect to our visit. We found ourselves fascinated by the exhibits, learning alongside our kids. They also offer stroller rentals and wide walkways, making it easy to navigate with little ones.

With kids, it’s always important to balance exploration with downtime, so we planned breaks at the many playgrounds scattered throughout the park. There’s so much open space for kids to run around, and it’s a relaxing experience for adults too.

For those looking to dive into nature, the park offers bike rentals and even horse-drawn carriage tours, which can be fun for all ages. We opted for a casual walk, taking in the views of the ocean and mountains.

Checking Out the Vancouver International Auto Show

One of the highlights of our trip was the Vancouver International Auto Show. Justin’s a car enthusiast and we wanted to share that love of cars with our kids, so we couldn’t resist popping in to see what was on display. The best part? Getting up close and personal with a Tesla Cybertruck! It’s just as futuristic in person as it looks in photos, and seeing it up close was pretty wild. The show had plenty to keep everyone entertained. It ended up being a really fun stop for the whole family.

Cultural Stop: Vancouver Art Gallery

We decided to visit the Vancouver Art Gallery, hoping to expose the kids to some art and culture. We lived in Vancouver for almost a decade and had never gone. But better late than never! While the gallery had some interesting pieces, we felt it was quite small compared to other major city galleries.

If you’re on the fence about visiting, it’s worth noting that this experience is probably better suited for older kids or adults. It might be worth checking their special exhibitions first or opting for a family-friendly museum like Science World instead.

Whistler is known for being a winter sports hub, but what many don’t realize is that it’s just as stunning and family-friendly in the warmer months. Whether you’re hiking through alpine meadows or enjoying the serene lakes, there’s something for everyone. For us, it was the perfect mix of outdoor adventure and laid-back luxury.

Our home base for this trip was the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, and it was absolutely perfect for a family-friendly, luxury experience. One of the highlights was arriving to find a crib already set up in our room, along with a miniature Fairmont robe and children’s toiletries for our toddler. What’s more, many of the trails ran alongside the golf courses, so we got to enjoy some lovely views while dreaming of when we could hit the greens. For now, we’re more into family-friendly activities like walking and hiking, but mountain biking and other summer activities are high on our list for future trips.

Louie, being the adventurous dog that he is, made sure to lead us to one of his favourite spots—Lost Lake. The serenity of the lake, paired with the beautiful surroundings, made it a wonderful family spot. Watching Louie splash around in the water while our toddler giggled made for some heartwarming memories.

Walking with a toddler has its own pace, so we focused on shorter, more manageable trails.
