Golfing at Nicklaus North was part of our 2021 trip to Whistler. We golfed both Nicklaus North and the course at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The Nicklaus North course is very nice, flat, and scenic. Since we were staying at the Fairmont, it was a short drive over to the Nicklaus golf course. I’m not entirely sure what the check-in process should be like at Nicklaus because the Fairmont valet was such a disaster and made us miss our original tee time. One of the check-in folks followed me in a golf cart through the parking lot, so we could unload our clubs right into it. That was kind of fun! We were paired with a couple of members and got the inside scoop for each hole.
Since this was our first time golfing at Nicklaus, we didn’t know what to expect so we had opted for carts. They were absolutely unnecessary at Nicklaus because it’s a really walkable course. The members also knew a bunch of shortcuts from hole to hole, so if you walked, it didn’t seem like it would be much of a hike overall. It was pretty windy on the day we played here, which kept the temperatures comfortable. Many of the holes were framed by mountains, and hole 17 (their signature hole) had stunning views of Green Lake.
