These posts are fun to write and encourage us to reflect on some highlights from our week. If you missed last weeks post, you can find that here. I mentioned hummingbirds last time, and they are still visiting like crazy. They’ll be a regular presence just off our patio, until the end of summer. They haven’t started to get fussy yet, in terms of being territorial with the feeder. But I’m sure that won’t last for long. I can see them from where I am sitting writing this post, and they’ve been visiting the feeder non-stop. Here is the latest for What’s Good Wednesday!
Green onion cake making
Lately, I’ve been obsessing about green onion cakes. I’ve been perusing multiple recipes online and made my second batch of this week. It’s been challenging getting the hang of how long to knead the dough, and getting the green onion cakes to be layered and crispy and chewy. I’m also going to try making roti canai this week. Green onion cakes are quite labor-intensive in my opinion, but I suppose it’s fine because we’re all about slow and intentional eating at our house.
Got a miter saw
We picked up a miter saw for some upcoming projects around the house. We don’t exactly know how we’re going to get building materials home just yet, but I am pretty excited that we have a “major power tool” like this to do start doing some things here and there. One of my priorities is re-doing my raised garden bed.
We’ve been working on our core strength like crazy, and it’s starting to show a little bit! Just in time for summer… and laying around at home in our garden oasis. I have two strength sessions a week, and one of them is supposed to be for building core strength. I’ve also been adding a short core workout after every cardio session, and the workouts seem to get a little easier each day which has been extremely motivating! They say that abs are made in the kitchen, and we’ve had good progress despite eating a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie every day. The plan is to keep up the cookie eating but also having a strong core.
